Adventure training
Adventure training is a great way to make new friends and show off your leadership qualities.
There is a wide ranging adventure training syllabus in the ACO – depending on the squadron you attend.

 

  FIELD CRAFT
Field Craft is regularly practiced and includes the teaching of how to use a compass and map reading as well as skills needed in the field. Squadrons often have Exercises to practice these skills.

TEN TORS
Ten Tors is a course set over Dartmoor completed over a weekend in May during which you have to visit ten hills known as Tors. There are three distances depending on age, 35km, 45km and 55km.
Such is the terrain that it is necessary to start training in February to ensure that the selected teams are competent and able to succeed. There are several training weekends which, includes a RAF Weekend.
 
  WINDEMERE
Windermere located in the Lake District is the second dedicated ATC Adventure Training Centre providing similar but different activities to develop adventure training skills.
