| . | On weekends of 17-19 July and 28-30 August 2009 we intend to run adventure training programs for cadets to qualify for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expedition. Weekend one will consist of a training day at 2171 squadron headquarters starting at 0845 prompt on Saturday 18 July 2009. Early that evening cadets will be transported to Brisworthy plantation (SX 556657) to camp overnight followed by a day walk on Sunday19 July 2009. Weekend two is a 15 mile expedition starting at Plymouth and Downderry, walking the coastal footpath, with an overnight camp at Tregantle Fort (SX 388534). Teams will finish at Plymouth and Downderry on the Sunday then return to 2171 Squadron at endex or picked up by parents. To qualify cadets must attend both weekends so no ‘part timers’ can be accepted. An independent assessor will be at both weekends. Squadrons sending cadets are responsible in ensuring that they are fully equipped and self sufficient, full NOK forms/ medical forms will be required and handed to me first thing on the18 July 2009 or I will be unable to take the cadet(s) on the weekends. At this time I am going to attempt to do both weekends without extra costs, except for cadets personal use and the ferry charge from Plymouth to Cremyll and Cremyll to Plymouth on weekend two, but this may have to change to accommodate transport and staff costs. I may have to ask for help from staff and/or parents to help with transportation on the weekends. NAMES TO ME SOONEST please, as I have only applied for 25 cadet places as there is a maximum of only 12 cadets allowed on each route. To make it fair, if squadrons have large numbers of cadets who they wish to qualify it is best if that squadron does its own weekends. We can help out with the paperwork, where necessary and if required can supply staff help. K.J. PARKER. CI. 2171 SQDN. ADVENTURE TRAINING INSTRUCTOR. |
